Chanukah Dreidel

Dradel

Dreidel is a game played during Chanukah. It is a four sided top with the Hebrew letters Nun, Gimel, Hei and Shin. Each of these represent what you get from the pot – Nun is None, Gimel is All, Hei is Half and Shin is put in. Dreidels were often made of wood or clay, but over time have been made from many other materials ranging from plastic to metal, many of which have become artistic pieces.

The Dreidel Song is one of the most popular Chanukah Songs with the following lyrics:

I have a little dreidel
I made it out of clay
And when it's dry and ready
Then dreidel I shall play

CHORUS

Oh dreidel dreidel dreidel
I made it out of clay
And when it's dry and ready
Then dreidel I shall play

It has a lovely body
With legs so short and thin
And when it is so tired
It drops and then I win!

(CHORUS)

My dreidel's always playful
It loves to dance and spin
A happy game of dreidel
Come play now, let's begin!

(CHORUS)
